In this episode Karen and Burt attend Plélo's final liberation ceremony before their departure to Calais. As everyone gathers in the town square, they hear American military vehicles warming up, and Karen eagerly anticipates seeing the convoy with a renovated Sherman tank traveling the same route her father's unit took 80 years earlier. Recalling how her father would tell her "You were there, Karen Beth" whenever she wished she could have witnessed his wartime experiences, Karen decides she must ride on the Sherman tank and nervously approaches the Mayor with her request. The next episode will cover what happens next and their emotional farewells and journey back home to Texas.
